Temporomandibular joint discectomy. A long-term retrospective follow-up on the patient perspective.

Abstract: Purpose To retrospectively evaluate long-term outcomes after temporomandibular joint (TMJ) discectomy. Methods Included patients (n = 64) had undergone discectomy during 1989–1998 at Umeå University Hospital. A questionnaire was used to evaluate pre- and postoperative symptoms, postoperative complications, general pain, and subjective opinion about the outcome of the surgery.
