Ten simple rules for teaching an introduction to R

Ava Hoffman,
Carrie Wright

Abstract: In this article, we share a set of guidelines aimed at improving the teaching of introductory R programming. The demand for data science skills has grown substantially across various disciplines, resulting in an increased need for comprehensive programming courses. However, both instructors and learners often struggle. We provide actionable insights into making introductory R courses more effective, engaging, and accessible, drawing from our experience in teaching professionals, graduate students, and interns.
