Tendencies of Academic Studies in Multilinguality:1923-2021

Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to determine the trends of academic studies (master's, doctorate and article) from 1923 to 2022. For this purpose, document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. In the research, the form developed by the data collection tool Sözbilir, Kutu, and Yaşar (2012) was used as a basis and the "Publication Identification Form", which was reshaped by the researcher in accordance with the problem questions, was used. Descriptive analysis technique was used in the analysis of the data obtained in the study. Percentage and frequency distributions of the findings determined in line with the purpose of the study are given, explained and interpreted in charts and tables. As a result of the research, it was determined that 77 academic studies, including 40 articles, 29 master's theses, 8 doctoral theses, were made from 1923 to 2021. It was found that the number of publications in this field increased after 2016, the most publications in this field were prepared within the Social Sciences Institutes, and only 21 of the universities in Turkey prepared master's and doctoral theses. In addition, it was determined that the qualitative research method was applied in 23 of the studies conducted in this field, and document analysis was used as the study material in 41 of the studies.
