Terahertz Optical Properties of KTiOPO4 Crystal in the Temperature Range of (−192)–150 °C

Abstract: This paper presents the results of an experimental study of the optical properties of highly resistive monocrystals of potassium titanyl phosphate (KTiOPO4, KTP) in the frequency range of 0.2–1 THz and the temperature range of (−192)–150 °C. The dispersion of the refractive indices is approximated in the form of Sellmeier equations. The results show that the temperature dependence of the Sellmeier coefficients for all three principal optical axes is close to linear and, most likely, does not experience an extr… Show more

“…The terahertz properties were measured using a conventional terahertz time-domain spectrometer (THz-TDS) with a liquid nitrogen bath cryostat. A description of the experimental setup can be found elsewhere [17,18]. In this study, the experimental setup included two smaller diaphragms with apertures of 5 mm due to the small dimensions of the samples under investigation.…”

“…The first works devoted to DFG in the THz range considered semiconductor crystals with large nonlinear coefficients, such as ZnGeP 2 and GaSe, popular for parametric generation in the mid-IR range [17,18]. In recent years, oxygen-containing nonlinear crystals, for example, β-BBO, LBO, BBO, etc., have been considered for THz frequency generation [19][20][21][22]. They have much lower nonlinear coefficients, but, at the same time, possess laser-induced damage thresholds that are several orders of magnitude higher and a much lower absorption coefficient in the main transparency window.…”
