Test and Operation of a PEM Fuel Cell Power System

Abstract: The fuel cell power system is an emerging energy technology. It promises high energy conversion efficiency and cleaner emissions than many of the available power conversion technologies. It is amenable to co-generation that would result in even better total energy utilization. This paper describes the initial testing and operating experience of a 5-kWe natural gas-powered PEM fuel cell technology development unit with waste heat recovery for grid-parallel residential applications.
