Test-retest reliability of knee extensors endurance test with elastic resistance

Abstract: BackgroundReliable clinical tests capable of measuring resistance are important tools for rehabilitation. One alternative that has recently increased in popularity is the use of elastic tubes, which stand out for being easy to handle, low cost, practical, and feasible.ObjectiveAnalyze the test-retest reliability of the knee extensors muscle fatigue resistance test (FRT) with elastic tubes.MethodsA total of 116 healthy young males, aged between 18 and 30 years old, participated in the study. Participants perfor… Show more

“…using a weight scale (Tanita BC554, Iron Man/InnerScaner, Tanita) and a stadiometer (Sanny, American Medical do Brasil). The body mass index was calculated as BM divided by the square of the body height(Lopes et al, 2018).…”

“…The findings of this study are relevant for clinical and scientific practice [36][37][38] in providing important evidence on an alternative method considering low cost and accessibility. Seeing as these results are limited to the investigated populations; new studies should be conducted to stablish the dose response on different intensities and groups.…”

“…To the authors' knowledge, this is the first systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the effect of resistance training on body composition comparing elastic and conventional devices. A limitation of this study is the lack of load standardization for elastic resistance training [36][37][38]. The gaps regarding the standardization of load dynamics and training prescription for this device are notorious.…”
