Testing the Effect of Bending Moment on Wheel Bearing Heating

Abstract: Leading manufacturers and sellers of products in the field of rolling bearings for the automotive industry guarantee their quality. Extensive product testing is required to guarantee quality. When testing wheel bearings, bending fatigue test stations are used, among other things, to verify the strength of components. The content of the presented work is the analysis of the effect of bending moment on the temperature of a newly wound wheel bearing of the 3rd generation, based on experimental measurements. These… Show more

“…Utilizing a Vibrophores Amsler 150 HFP Zwick/Roell fatigue machine, the fatigue tests involved preloading the test specimens at -13 kN, followed by cyclic loading at various amplitudes. The loading frequency was maintained at approximately 100 Hz [12,13]. The experimental specimens, free of V-notches, were cut from rectangular bars and sized at 55x10x10 mm (figure 1b).…”

“…The fatigue tests were carried out utilizing Vibrophores Amsler 150 HFP Zwick/Roell (figure 1b), with the testing samples initially preloaded at -12 kN, followed by cyclic loading with various amplitudes. The loading frequency maintained an approximate rate of 90 Hz [10,11].…”
