Texture Memory Effect in Heavily Cold-Rolled Ni3Al Single Crystals

Abstract: Abstract. The paper presented the texture evolution during primary recrystallization and following grain growth in the heavily cold-rolled Ni 3 Al single crystals. It turned out that the texture evolution occurred in the two stages. First, primary recrystallization caused the drastic change of the as-rolled texture. Then, as grain growth proceeded, the texture returned to the same one as the as-rolled textures. This texture return can be designated as Texture memory effect. The mechanism of the texture memory … Show more

“…GOSS texture with elongated grain structure and high dislocation density in LPBF HX show similarity with rolled materials [74][75][76]. The high dislocation density in rolled materials promotes dynamic recrystallization when heat treatment is applied, and the dynamic recrystallization further leads to texture evolution, specifically forming Goss component.…”

“…The X-ray texture measurements revealed an interesting two-stage texture evolution in the recrystallization and the subsequent grain growth [16], as shown in Fig. 2 for two Ni 3 Al foils with the Goss texture (a-c) [16] and the dual Brass texture (d-f) [17]. In both cases, the textures were disintegrated after the recrystallization, consisting of several texture components that were different from the cold-rolled textures (Fig.…”

“…Finally, in case of the Goss-textured foil, almost all the grains were determined to have the Goss orientation at the average grain size of 70 µm [12]. In case of the dual-Brass-textured foil, each band had a single Brass texture, similar to the cold-rolled state [17].…”

“…In the single-phase Ni 3 Al, we've found a very interesting phenomenon on the texture evolution during the recrystallization and grain growth, as follows subsequently heat-treated at 873K/0.5h after the cold rolling, and (c) at 1273K/0.5h. [15][16][17]. First, the cold-rolled foil had a strong {110} texture, as shown in Fig.…”
