“…Borchard (cited by Gross, 1962, p. 15) is reported to have induced an eosinophila with aldehydes of unsaturated fatty acids derived from Ascaris. Scardino and Zaiman (1962) were unable to obtain the usual eosinophil response in rats infected with irradiated Trichinella larvae. Soulsby (1962) observed that the cuticles of Nippostrongylus and Ascaris larvae were antigenic; in vitro preparations of larvae with antibody absorbed to cuticle attracted a mixture of eosinophils and transitional macrophages; other cells, including polymorphs, lymphocytes and mast cells, were not attracted.…”
