The question of whether the neural encodings of objects are similar across different people is one of the key questions in cognitive neuroscience. This article examines the commonalities in the internal representation of objects, as measured with fMRI, across individuals in two complementary ways. First, we examine the commonalities in the internal representation of objects across people at the level of interobject distances, derived from whole brain fMRI data, and second, at the level of spatially localized anatomical brain regions that contain sufficient information for identification of object categories, without making the assumption that their voxel patterns are spatially matched in a common space. We examine the commonalities in internal representation of objects on 3T fMRI data collected while participants viewed line drawings depicting various tools and dwellings. This exploratory study revealed the extent to which the representation of individual concepts, and their mutual similarity, is shared across participants. Hum Brain Mapp 33:1375-1383,

Les travaux récents sur la mise en place d'indicateurs permettant de renseigner le paysage et ses différentes composantes se cantonnent souvent à l'étude de leur composition et/ou de leur structure. Cependant, pour appréhender toute la complexité des mosaïques paysagères, il est important de proposer des indicateurs synthétiques dont la mise au point est d'autant plus pertinente que de nombreuses études mettent les mosaïques paysagères au centre des dynamiques territoriales. Le projet Amaz (2006-2010) a montré le rôle central du paysage dans la biodiversité, la qualité des sols et, plus généralement, dans les services écosystémiques. La cartographie de ces mosaïques en lien avec les dynamiques environnementales et sociétales a pour but d'améliorer les politiques de gestion. Ici, l'article a donc pour ambition de proposer un indicateur paysager synthétique couvrant plusieurs dimensions spatiales et temporelles d'un même paysage. (Résumé d'auteur)

ABSTRACTIn this paper, we investigate the potential of partial triadic analysis (PTA), already introduced in ecology by THIOULOUSE and CHESSEL (1987). we also present the analysis of a series of contingency tables (FOUCART, 1978) which represents a different approach since it considers the frequency distribution of species rather than their abundance. We illustrate these two K-set methods by an example in stream ecology. We demonstrate the power of these methods for depicting the temporal evolution of the spatial structures.
