“…In an experimental condition of acute psychological stress, such as the "Trier Social Stress Test" (TSST), Wiegand et al found that, among stress-associated changes, the expression of salivary microRNA (miRNA) involved in the cellular response managing oxidative stress was higher [37]. Moreover, healthy children, after a stress situation induced by the TSST, showed increased biomarkers of lipid peroxidation compared with a control day and increased markers of antioxidant status during the stress day [38]. Consistent with these findings, we observed that sNOX2-dp, a circulating biomarker of NOX2 activation, and H 2 O 2 levels increased on the day of the exam, with higher levels of both biomarkers significantly increased in participants that obtained results ≤ 24 when compared with those who obtained results > 24.…”

“…Although many studies suggest that the chronic psychosocial stress is linked to OxSt and the pathologies of diverse diseases [ [6] , [7] , [8] , 45 , 46 , 124 , 125 ], few studies focus on the association between acute psychosocial stress and OxSt [ [126] , [127] , [128] ]. Jansakova et al [ 127 ] examined the acute effect of psychosocial stress on OxSt using saliva samples from children.…”

Jansakova et al [ 127 ] examined the acute effect of psychosocial stress on OxSt using saliva samples from children. They found increases in the total antioxidant capacity (as measured by ferric ion reducing antioxidant power) after exposure to acute psychosocial stress (e.g., TSST) during the stress day, and higher lipid peroxidation on stress day than control day but no significant difference prior to and post TSST.…”

“…78 Studies using multi-variant serum analysis suggest an association between psychological stress and OS. 79,80 The stressful situations during the COVID-19 pandemic increases as an essential part of the body's stress response and chronic increase of cortisol may have deleterious impact on the mental and physical health of adolescent. 81 A meta-analysis of 11 studies (5 observational studies and 6 case reports) showed a significantly high level of cortisol in serum of patients with severe SARS-CoV-2 infection.…”

“…The SARS-CoV-2 -mediated infection, inflammation, anxiety and stress generate high level of ROS that cause OS in critically ill and vulnerable patients. 4,79,80 High circulating levels of ROS may have the potential impact on the oocyte quality and ovarian functions in SARS-CoV-2 infected women. 102 For instance, high levels of ROS deplete ovarian reserve and generate pathological conditions that result in the onset of ovarian diseases.…”
