The Adequacy of Some Collecting Techniques for Obtaining Representative Arthropod Sample in Dry Grasslands

Abstract: The number of remarkable species on a locality is an important indicator of locality value. The ecological requirements of the rare species may help to target correct landscape management activities. Our objective was to fi nd out if standardly used capture methods for diff erent group of invertebrate are able to detect really representative composition of species including rare taxa. Our experiment was carried out at the Moravský kras Protected Landscape Area (Macošská and Vilémovická stráň slope) where secon… Show more

“…They are used to monitor soil health and evaluate the sustainability of land use practices (Rüdisser et al, 2015) in differently managed ecosystems, in intensively used arable land, extensively used permanent grasslands (e.g. Niedobová and Fric, 2014;Meyer et al, 2019) or abandoned orchards (e.g. Psota and Šťastná, 2016;Štastná and Psota, 2013).…”

“…Previous studies have compared different sampling methods in different habitats (see Spafford & Lortie, 2013), such as those in Australia (Popic et al, 2013), New Zealand (Larsen et al, 2014), North America (Shapiro et al, 2014;Joshi et al, 2015), Central and North Europe (Niedobová & Fric, 2014;Rubene et al, 2015) and South America (Nemesio & Morato, 2005). However, few studies have compared their effectiveness in Mediterranean regions (Nielsen et al, 2011;Ponce et al, 2011).…”
