“…La especie Berberis microphylla G. Forst conocida comúnmente como calafate, es un arbusto silvestre que crece asociados a bosques nativos en el sur de Chile (Salinas et al, 2019). En las últimas dos décadas, la planta ha captado la atención de algunos investigadores debido a su alta resistencia ante condiciones climáticas extremas (Mariangel et al, 2013), y su fruto, con capacidad antioxidante superior hasta cuatro veces que el arándano (Rodoni et al, 2014), ha demostrado mejorar sustancialmente la tolerancia a la glucosa en sangre y la prevención de la obesidad (Ramirez et al, 2021;Soto-Covasich et al, 2020). Estas evidencias, han aumentado la demanda de esta 'super fruta' por empresas locales del sur de Chile quienes la comercializan para la elaboración de diversos productos como cervezas o liofilizados.…”
