Although this remains a possibility, generally for lymph nodes present in the periphery, such as the axillary lymph nodes that drain the front forearm in the mouse, afferent lymph vessels will empty lymph into the marginal sinus of the lymph nodes and efferent lymph vessels will carry lymph away from the nodes (28,29).
