The anisotropic structure of electro conductive leather studied by Van der Pauw method

Abstract: Determining the surface resistance of electro conductive refined natural leather materials is in the focus of this paper. Natural leather samples are initially transformed to conductive by applying chemical treatment process known as polymerization. Due to the existence of various techniques for measuring electrical resistance of conductive materials, we are focused on measuring surface resistance by arranging four electrodes in the edges of square leather samples, also known as Van der Pauw method. Improving … Show more

“…This method has been proven to be highly helpful for determining sheet resistance and is compatible with determining sheet resistance of leather that has been treated to conduct electricity [17]. This method is used in our previous research, to evaluate the surface resistance of electro-conductive treated leather samples [6][7][8]. As shown in Figure 2, four connections must be put on the conductive sample's corners to test its resistance using this approach.…”

“…[20,21] The van der Pauw method also enables the assessment of the quality of layers printed on substrates [16] or leather chemical treatment and its electrical properties. [22] Identification of electrical anisotropy of knitted fabric is important from the point of view of its possible application. [11,12,15] The higher value of resistance in the chosen direction can be reflected in the wider changes in resistance values caused by DOI: 10.1002/adem.202300019…”
