This work aimed to characterize the allspice leaves essential oil (EO) and evaluate its antimicrobial activity against specific food-borne pathogenic microorganisms as well as its in vitro antioxidant activity. The antioxidant activity of different concentrations (0, 500 and 1000 mg/kg) of allspice EO was also evaluated in mechanically deboned poultry meat (MDPM) during storage of up to 10 days at 2 °C. Allspice EO presented as major compounds eugenol (55.52%), myrcene (22.53%) and chavicol (5.12%), and was effective against Gram-negative (P. aeruginosa) and Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) bacteria, having greater (p < 0.05) antimicrobial activity than its main component eugenol. In the in vitro antioxidant assays, the allspice EO had higher radical scavenging activity (90% versus 65%) than eugenol, presenting lower IC50 values (2.71 versus 9.49 µg/mL), but the antioxidant activity by the 2-thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) did not differ (p > 0.05) from the synthetic antioxidant butyl-hydroxytoluene (BHT). Incorporating allspice EO in MDPM suppressed lipid oxidation during 8 days of cold storage, regardless of the amount used, exhibiting lower (p < 0.05) TBARS values during all storage periods than MDPM without EO. Allspice leaves EO had the high antioxidant potential to be used in MDPM and could also contribute an antimicrobial effect to the product in which the MDPM is used.

Callistemon viminalis, often known as the stream bottlebrush, is a tropical plant in the Myrtaceae family and is renowned for its ability to grow rapidly in riparian zones. It is exclusively found in New South Wales, Queensland, and Western Australia. The roots of this species are entangled, which helps stabilize the soil, which reduces the danger of erosion. This plant has antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, and other pharmacological and insecticidal abilities that are also related to other medicinal properties. This research investigates the benefits, applications, and features of several extracts obtained from components of C. viminalis (branches, flowers, fruits, bark, and leaves). Bioactive compounds were characterized in detail by noting their chemical structures. The use of C. viminalis in folk medicine was fully supported by the results. Collecting and compounding plant materials, including processing, drying, and grinding, and then doing research to screen pharmaceutical effects, are all part of making the cure. Rats had their wound healing ability tested using a method known as in vitro experimentation. This method relies on excision wounds. The capacity of the extracted substance to close wounds when applied as an ointment was shown to be greater than in the control. The epithelization time in the standard and treated groups was significantly shorter than in the basic ointment base treatment group. The group treated with 5% w/w extract ointment had greater traction intensity than the control group (1.96 gm/mm2), with a significant difference of (1.12) gm/mm2. The tensile strength of the (3.86) gm/mm2 of the 5% w/w treated group. A substantial increase in tensile strength was seen on the tenth day for both the extract level and the normal medicine.

Pimenta is a genus of flowering plants belonging to family Myrtaceae, native to the West Indies, Mexico, and South America. Numerous traditional uses were reported as anti‐inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, antirheumatic, antigout, sedative diuretic, sexual stimulant, arthritis and fatigue. This article aims to clarify the reported data about the genus Pimenta, providing a comprehensive overview of its botany, traditional uses, phytochemical profile, pharmacological activities for future exploration of plant‐based drugs and therapeutic approaches. The data were collected from several databases such as Web of Science, Pubmed and Proquest using the terms: "Pimenta", "Pimenta/ phytochemistry", and "Pimenta extracts/ biological activity".The phytochemicals of Pimenta species include tannins, saponins, flavonoids, phenylpropanoids, monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes and essential oils. Several Pharmacological biological activities have been reported for different species such as antihypertensive, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiviral, histidine decarboxylase inhibition, hypoglycemic, anticancer, anti‐inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, acaricidal, anxiolytic, anti‐depressant and anti‐estrogenic. Several scientific reports have been published on various isolated phytochemicals and pharmacological properties of Pimenta species that confirm its ethnobotanical and traditional history. However, in vivo studies on different extracts and their phytoconstituents, alongside mechanistic analysis deserve more attention in future research to provide better guidance to utilize Pimenta as medicinal resources.
