The appliance of prefabricated soil-cement slabs processed with a hydrophobizing material for the road construction

Abstract: The paper presents a complex method for increasing water resistance and reducing crack formation by using a prefabricated foundation of soil-cement slabs with surface processing with a hydrophobizing material on basis of organosilicon compounds. Theoretical, laboratory and full-scale experimental studies were made. Theoretical studies are based on the substantiation of the geometric parameters of the slab in order to exclude the probability of its destruction under its own weight during building and installati… Show more

“…In addition, there are a number of features when working with stabilized soil, which significantly affect the physical and mechanical characteristics of the earth bed's working layer. Reinforcing or stabilization of soils by application of various additives (stabilizers) in combination with cement is the most radical and effective way to save material resources, increase labor productivity, drastically reduce the volume of traffic of road building materials [7][8][9][10][11][12][13].…”

“…Since in Russia, for the most part, wet soils with clay particles are predominantly found, this technology will undoubtedly help reduce the cost of building a road base, improving their physicalmechanical properties, by increasing the elastic modulus, eliminating soil decompression, increasing its hydrophobic properties and frost resistance [13][14][15][16][17][18][19].…”
