The application of geographic information system as an intelligent system towards emergency responses in road traffic accident in Ibadan

Abstract: Background: The high influx of private and public vehicles within global cities (including Ibadan) has resulted in traffic congestion within the city centre. Ibadan North-East, an urban local government area (LGA) within the metropolitan land area of Ibadan, has been experiencing automobile accidents and traffic congestion which in turn limits emergency responders. Objectives: The broad objective of the study was to develop a digital road network database for emergency response to road traffic accident, Ibadan … Show more

“…The processing of network analysis requires a primary network, including center, connection, node, and resistance [58,59]. We should first vectorize the obtained primary data and construct the network dataset to conduct network analysis.…”

“…9 In recent years, the use of a Geographic Information System (GIS) has improved understanding of the spatio-temporal distribution of crashes by mapping the most dangerous segments of the road network. [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18] The tool offers the opportunity to retrospectively process large amounts of spatial and temporal information and is effective for identifying areas of high Risk Management and Healthcare Policy 2022:15 1271-1282 crash concentration, known as hotspots. 17,[19][20][21][22] A GIS is considered a tool to help prioritize interventions and efficiently allocate resources to improve road safety.…”

“…An anomalous trajectory refers to a trajectory that differs locally or globally from most other normal ones when measured by some similarity metrics. Many ITS applications, such as fraud detection [7], emergency response [8], and urban network mapping [9], have the urgent need for anomalous trajectory detection.
