“…From the Southern analysis, it appeared that L1 and L2 had three copies of the gene. There was no clear reason for different number of bands using EcoRI and NSiI since AtPDC1 did not have the appropriate restriction cut sites and may be due to incomplete introgression of the transgene, i.e., the restriction enzyme can find more than one restriction site at which to cut the genome (Behnam et al 2006). L1 and L2 showed the characteristic restriction pattern, indicating that it was an independent transformation.…”

“…however, transgenic plants showed growth retardation under normal growth conditions. the stress inducible expression of AtDREB1A conferred on transgenic potato plants salt and freezing stress tolerance (7,8). Similarly, Pino et al (51) reported freezing tolerance in transgenic potato that expressed AtCBF1, AtCBF2 and AtCBF3 under CaMV35S and rd29A promoters.…”

“…Belonging to the APETALA2 (AP2)/ETHYLENE RESPONSE FACTOR (ERF) family of transcription factors, DEHYDRATION RESPONSE ELEMENT B1A (DREB1A)/C-REPEAT-BINDING FACTOR3 (CBF3) is highly induced under drought stress (reviewed by Seki et al (2007)) and therefore was used to confer drought tolerance in various plants (reviewed by Umezawa et al (2006)). Overexpression of Arabidopsis thaliana AtDREB1A in potato plants was evaluated under salt and freezing stresses in in planta experiments (Celebi-Toprak et al, 2005;Behnam et al, 2006Behnam et al, , 2007. Recently, drought tolerance of AtDREB1A-expressing potato plants was carried out in an in vitro study (Huynh et al, 2014), suggesting that overexpression of AtDREB1A enhances tolerance of potato against various environmental stresses.…”
