The Archaeological Museum of Alto Adige—Südtiroler Archäologiemuseum of Bolzano/Bozen, Italy

Franco Nicolis

Abstract: The museum is housed in a historic building constructed in 1912–1913, which was first the headquarters of the Austro-Hungarian Bank, and later, the Bank of Italy. The building was acquired by the autonomous Province of Bolzano in the 1980s, and in 1996 renovations began for its use as the Archaeological Museum of Alto Adige/Südtirol, which was inaugurated on 28 March 1998.
