The Assessment of Relationship between Fragmented QRS Complex and Left Ventricular Wall Motion Score Index in Patients with ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction Who Underwent Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

Abstract: WMSI was significantly related with the presence of the fQRS, which reflects the linking between impairment of regional left ventricular systolic function and the presence of severe myocardial injury in STEMI.

“…This finding is concordant with previous reports which found lower LVEF, and larger left ventricular systolic and diastolic dimensions and volumes in patients with fQRS and CAD. 21,25 As we included only AMI patients, we can assume that appearance of QRS fragmentation even in the early phase of AMI may indicate larger infarct size and worse LV systolic function. This correlation may partially explain the worse prognosis in patients with fQRS (+).…”

“…The fQRS is a simple, inexpensive, and readily available ECG entity that can be easily identified by clinicians. 24) Acute myocardial inflammation and myocardial ischemia may lead to cardiac remodeling that is associated with the fQRS. 25,26) In this study, there was a higher number of fQRS in patients in the deceased group than in the survival group, even though fQRS was not a potential independent biomarker.…”

“…2 fQRS is an independent predictor of impaired myocardial perfusion, left ventricular dilatation and decreased ejection fraction in patients with ischemic heart disease, and is strongly correlated with adverse outcomes, arrhythmia and mortality in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). 3-5 …”
