The Association between Low Serum Bilirubin and Carotid Atherosclerosis in Subjects with Type 2 Diabetes

Abstract: Background: Bilirubin prevents oxidative modification of low density lipoprotein, and may protect vessels from atherosclerosis. Several studies showed an inverse relationship between serum bilirubin and coronary artery disease.
