The Beginnings Of Statistical Literacy In Panama

Abstract

Statistical literacy is an activity that has become more relevant in society highlighting the usefulness and importance of statistics in decision-making contextualized in a real case that affected us all. The objective of this article is to briefly present the participation of the main entities that have a preponderant role in statistical literacy in the country since its inception. Panama's participation in the International Statistical Literacy Project Poster Competition for the first time is noteworthy, as is the development of activities that went beyond the classroom to society. La alfabetización estadística es una actividad que ha cobrado mayor relevancia en la sociedad resaltando la utilidad y la importancia de la estadística en la toma de decisiones contextualizado en un caso real que nos afectó a todos. El objetivo de este artículo es dar a conocer de manera sucinta la participación de las principales entidades que tienen un papel preponderante en la alfabetización estadística en el país desde sus inicios. Se destaca, la participación de Panamá, por primera vez, en el Concurso de Póster del Proyecto Internacional de Alfabetización Estadística y el desarrollo actividades que trascendieron de las aulas de clases a la sociedad.
