The Bifidobacterim bifidum (BIB2) Probiotic Increased Immune System Factors in Men Sprint Athletes

Abstract: Foods supplemented with probiotics enhance athletes' immune system functions, improve body health and consequently decreases athlete's health maintenance costs. Probiotics improve immune system function against pathogens via affecting on innate immune system, humeral immunity and cytokines. The effects of consumption of Iranian probiotic Bifidobactrium bifidum (BIB2) on athletes' immune system functions were evaluated. The results showed studied immune system factors were significantly different between test a… Show more

“…In another study, it was observed that supplementing with the probiotic Bacillus subtilis enhanced performance in female athletes ( 4 ). It is also reported that consumption of Bifidobacterium bifidum (BIB2) probiotic by sprint athletes significantly improves immune system factors with a positive correlation observed between the duration of consumption and the effect ( 5 ).…”

“…Probiotics are living microorganisms that positively affect the host body by adjusting its microbial balance. [7] There is an increasing body of evidence supporting the potential health benefits of probiotics such as reduced oxidative stress and inflammation, [8,9] improved antitumor activity, [10] higher immunity, [11,12] and reinforcement of gastrointestinal barrier. [13] Probiotic consumption could act as a shield against oxidative damage in athletes to equip a suitable antioxidant barrier essential for preventing dangerous levels of oxidative stress and consequent inflammation.…”
