The BINGO project

Abstract: Context. Observations of the redshifted 21-cm line of neutral hydrogen (Hi) are a new and powerful window of observation that offers us the possibility to map the spatial distribution of cosmic Hi and learn about cosmology. Baryon Acoustic Oscillations from Integrated Neutral Gas Observations (BINGO) is a new unique radio telescope designed to be one of the first to probe baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) at radio frequencies.Aims. BINGO has two science goals: cosmology and astrophysics. Cosmology is the main… Show more

“…We also describe the site, updating the site selection information report in Peel et al (2019). In this series of BINGO papers, besides this paper, we present a general overview of the project (Abdalla et al 2021a), the optical system model (Abdalla et al 2021b), which was carried using the characterization of the horn prototype (Wuensche et al 2020), the mission simulations with the parameters listed in Table 1 (Liccardo et al 2021), and two theoretical papers, one describing 21 cm mock catalogs (Zhang et al 2021) and the other presenting cosmological forecasts for BINGO (Costa et al 2021).…”

“…The radio band provides a unique and complementary observational window for the understanding of dark energy via the redshifted 21-cm neutral hydrogen emission line from distant galaxies. The BINGO telescope is a proposed new instrument designed specifically to observe such a signal and to provide a new insight into the Universe (Battye et al 2013;Abdalla et al 2021a).…”
