Majors et al. 2012). Although Comamonas commonly exists as biofilms in diverse environments, most previous studies focused on exploring the catabolic activities of Comamonas in planktonic cultures. Therefore, understanding the biofilm lifestyle of Comamonas in different environmental processes and elucidating the influence of environmental conditions on the biofilm lifestyle are key to better understanding This thesis includes 7 chapters, which are highlighted as follows: Chapter 1. Introduction-This chapter provides the background information and research gaps and states the objective of this study. Chapter 2. Literature review-This chapter summarizes previous studies on biofilm biology of Comamonas and the ecological role of Comamonas in different environments. Chapter 3. Influence of 3-chloroaniline on the biofilm lifestyle of C. testosteroni and implications in bioaugmentation-The influence of 3-CA on biofilm lifestyle of C. testosteroni and its bioaugmentation in packed-bed biofilm reactors were elucidated.
