The birth-and-death evolution of cytochrome P450 genes in bees

Abstract: The birth-and-death model of multigene family evolution describes how families can expand by duplication and contract by gene deletion and formation of pseudogenes. The phylogenetic stability of a gene is thought to be related to the degree of functional importance.
