“…The acceptance model of intuitive eating has been cross-sectionally confirmed in various demographic groups, including adolescent girls ( Andrew et al, 2015 ), emerging adult, young adult, and middle adult women ( Augustus-Horvath & Tylka, 2011 ), college women athletes ( Oh et al, 2012 ), physically active college women and men ( Tylka & Homan, 2015 ), and has shown to be invariant across Black, Hispanic, and White women ( Modica & DiLillo, 2023 ). Moreover, several correlational studies observed that perceived body acceptance by others was consistently positively associated with multiple facets of positive body image constructs, such as body appreciation and body pride, subjective happiness, emotional well-being, and intuitive eating, as well as negatively linked to social comparison, weight bias internalization, and perceived appearance-related pressure ( Andrew et al, 2014 , Andrew et al, 2016aa , Augustus-Horvath and Tylka, 2011 , Swami et al, 2021 , Swami et al, 2021 , Swami et al, 2018 ; J. Wang et al, 2022 ). However, empirical work investigating prospective associations between perceived body acceptance by others and body appreciation is scarce.…”
