The border of the East‐European Craton in south‐eastern Poland based on gravity and magnetic data

Abstract: According to recent geological interpretations, the border of the East-European Craton (EEC) in SE Poland is located in the NE foreland of the Holy Cross Mts. Results of gravity and magnetic anomaly interpretations presented herein con®rm this. According to 3D and 2D gravity and magnetic modelling, the EEC borders the SW¯ank of the regional crystalline feature with increased magnetic and density properties, which occur in the SE part of the Teisseyre±Tornquist Zone (TTZ). This¯ank rests near a deep fracture de… Show more

“…Similar basement density values, c. 2.75 g/cm 3 , were found from 2D gravity modeling along the seismic profile POL-CRUST-01 in SE Poland (Narkiewicz et al 2015). A constant density of 2.70 g/cm 3 , corresponding to rocks in the top of the crystalline complex of old cratons, was assigned to rocks of the crystalline basement of the EEC in SE Poland by Grabowska and Bojdys (2001).…”
