The Calculations of Ar and Xe Conductivity Under High Pressures

Abstract: The conductivity of Ar and Xe plasma is calculated for wide range of densities and temperatures. The chemical composition necessary for the conductivity calculation was obtained by means of the generalized chemical model (GCM). The feature of this GCM is the account for neutral-neutral interaction within the integral equation approach of the theory of liquids. The results of calculations are in agreement with available data of measurements.

“…At high densities the Pade approximation can be used [2,21]. In present calculations we have used the expression obtained in [23], like in our previous studies [18,19,[27][28][29]. It is applicable for all necessary densities and interpolates between two above limits.…”

“…The transport coefficients were calculated within the relaxation-time approximation (which is the solution of corresponding kinetic equation). Our model was successfully applied to the calculation of the composition and transport coefficients of the plasmas of noble gases and number of metals and semiconductors [18,19,[27][28][29]. For the case of Ni plasma [19] the pressure, internal energy and heat capacity were calculated as well.…”

“…The ideal part of free energy usually includes the internal partition functions of atoms and ions. Here we used Planck-Larkin convention for these values like in [1,3,11]. Other terms in (2) are: F Ch−Ch is the contribution due to the interaction of charged species (charge-charge); F N −Ch is the contribution due to the interaction of atoms with charged particles.…”

“…The simplest expression for the conductivity can be obtained by means of the relaxation-time approximation [11]. There are more complicated and more exact theories (see [1]), but for present aims the relaxation-time approximation is enough.…”
