Abstract:Clouds are one of the most significant factors in the climate system that strongly affect the Earth’s energy budget. Clouds reflect some of the sun's energy back into space, producing a cooling effect at the top of the atmosphere and at the same time trap the longwave radiation producing a warming effect. On average, the cooling effect is stronger than the warming effect, but accurately estimating the effects of clouds on the Earth's energy budget is still a major area of research. The cloud radiativ… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
