The Cavitation Behavior of Fe-Cr-C-Si-Ni Alloys

Abstract: The cavitation erosion behavior of Fe-Cr-C-Si-xNi (x = 1, 2 and 3 wt.%) alloys were investigated for 50 hours using a 20 kHz vibratory cavitation erosion test equipment. 1 wt.% Ni added Fe-based hardfacing alloy showed excellent cavitation erosion resistance, comparable to the stellite 6. Above 1 wt.% Ni, however, the erosion resistance deteriorated quickly. It is conjectured that Ni addition above 1 wt.%, which has been shown to increase the stacking fault energy (SFE), resulted in reduction of the work harde… Show more

“…As LED devices became brighter and the wavelengths of the light they produce became shorter recently, the thermal stability of the epoxy molding compound (EMC) has become a hot issue in packing LED devices [1,2,3]. If a short wavelength LED with high brightness is turned on for a long time, the temperature of the package materials increases up to almost 150 o C [4]. The optical properties of most commercial EMC are significantly deteriorated at 150 o C. As the turn-on time increases, the optical transmittance of the LED light decreases.…”
