“…The concept of training traditional healers and medical personnel to deliver traditional and Western healthcare to communities requires further consideration and a plan of implementation. Uyanga (1979) addressed the role of traditional and spiritual healers in south-eastern Nigeria, the type of patients who visit particular healers, the factors that influence their choice, and the reason for the popularity of traditional and spiritual healers despite increasing urbanization and expansion of medical facilities in the area. The findings observed marked gender, age and socioeconomic differences between patients who patronized the two types of healers.…”
