The Chelating Power of Ambilhar with Body Iron

Abstract: Summary The excretion of organic iron in the urine of animals receiving Ambilhar (Niridazolde) could be explained by the strong chelating power of the drug with the metal. One atom of iron requires 6 molecules of the drug to form a stable hexa‐coordinated iron complex. In the presence of glucuronic acid (in vitro) the complex becomes water solible.
