The Chemical Composition, Antioxidant and Anti-Tyrosinase Activities, and Irritation Properties of Sripanya Punica granatum Peel Extract

Abstract: This is the first study to investigate the effect of ethanol concentrations on the phenolic content and biological activities of Sripanya Punica granatum peel extract. Various concentrations of ethanol, (20 to 80% v/v), were used in the maceration process. Extracts were investigated for total phenolic content by the Folin–Ciocalteu method, antioxidant activities by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2’-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) assay, and anti-tyrosinase activity by a spec… Show more

“…The inhibitory activity against the tyrosinase enzyme of each herbal extract was evaluated using a spectrophotometric assay based on a method of Laosirisathian et al., [60] which had been modified from the method of Pomerantz [61] . The anti‐tyrosinase activities were calculated using the equation true%4ptAnti-tyrosinase4ptactivity=2.84526pt{((normalA-normalB)-(normalC-normalD))/(normalA-normalB)}×100, …”

“…Each enzyme's inhibitory activity against tyrosinase was investigated using a spectrophotometric assay according to a method previously described by Laosirisathian et al (2020), which had been modified from Pomerantz (1976) [54]. l-tyrosine and l-DOPA were used as substrates for the tyrosinase.…”

“…Whitening effect of a natural extract was established by anti-tyrosinase activity measurement which was performed according to Saeio et al (2011) and Laosirisathian et al (2020) [ 29 , 34 ]. L-tyrosine and L-DOPA were the substrates of tyrosinase enzyme in this study.…”
