El hombre y su representación en Lincoln (Steven Spielberg, 2012): un análisis textual José Díaz-Cuesta Universidad de La Rioja (España) jose.diaz-cuesta@unirioja.es ResumenEste artículo se centra en la representación de masculinidades en el texto fílmico Lincoln (Spielberg, 2012), siguiendo los cuatro entornos definidos por Pat Kirkham y Janet Thumim para su estudio en obras cinematográficas: el cuerpo, la acción, el mundo externo y el mundo interno. El análisis textual realizado revela que el uso de la palabra e incluso su ausencia atraviesan esos cuatro emplazamientos, marcando al personaje interpretado por Daniel Day-Lewis. Man and his representation in Lincoln (Steven Spielberg, 2012): a textual analysis AbstractThis journal article centres on the representation of masculinities in the film text Lincoln (Spielberg, 2012), following the four sites Pat Kirkham and Janet Thumim define for the study of masculinities in film: the body, action, the external world and the internal world (1993: 11). The textual analysis reveals that the use of the word and even its absence run through those four sites, defining the character performed by Daniel Day-Lewis.

ResumenLa pregunta de investigación que nos hacemos es ¿cuál es la evolución de las masculinidades represen tadas por los protagonistas masculinos de las películas de monstruos de Steven Spielberg? Se sigue un método analíticosintético, basado en los cuatro entornos de Pat Kirkham y Janet Thumim (1993) y en la Teoría del Texto de Jesús González Requena (1996). En las conclusiones se observa que la masculi nidad considerada como el conjunto de rasgos analizados se resume en el deseo de ser hombre y ocupar el lugar del Padre: eso es lo que pretenden los hombresniños que en su mayoría protagonizan los textos fílmicos estudiados. Steven Spielberg's Men in his Monster Movies AbstractThe research question is "what is the evolution of the masculinities represented by the male protagonists of Steven Spielberg's monster movies?" We follow an analyticosynthetical method, based on Pat Kir kham and Janet Thumim's (1993) four sites and on Jesús González Requena's Theory of the Text (1996). In the conclusions we observe that masculinity, regarded as a compendium of the sites analyzed, is sum med up in the wish of being a man and occupying the place of the Father: that is what is sought for by the childrenmen that mainly star in the analyzed film texts.
