The CMB, Preferred Reference System, and Dragging of Light in the Earth Frame

Abstract: The dominant CMB dipole anisotropy is a Doppler effect due to a particular motion of the solar system with a velocity of 370 km/s. Since this derives from peculiar motions and local inhomogeneities, one could meaningfully consider a fundamental frame of rest Σ associated with the Universe as a whole. From the group properties of Lorentz transformations, two observers, individually moving within Σ, would still be connected by the relativistic composition rules. However, the ultimate implications could be substa… Show more

“…This applies in a reference frame in which the cosmic background radiation is isotropic. Anisotropic redshifts show that our galaxy is moving at approximate speed 670 km s À1 relative to that frame [31]. Unlike in infinite Minkowski space, the wave numbers k take a countable spectrum of values k nℓ .…”

“…Equation (19) determines the preferred reference frame ensuring an aether existence and an absence of dipole anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) [38]. Otherwise, the question arises: What is the physical foundation of the frame where CMB is in a rest "in tote", i.e., does not have a dipole component [39]?…”
