“…The comparative analysis of the IL-10 ¡1082 A/G allele frequencies of the patients and the control group revealed a significantly higher frequency of the homozygous GG genotype in HT patients. Baki et al [32] as well as Hunt et al [28] did not report differences in the G allele frequency in HT patients compared to controls. Inoue et al [33] studied the functional ¡592 A/C polymorphism in the gene encoding IL-10 and reported that the CC genotype, which is associated with higher production of IL-10, was more frequent in patients with severe HT than in those with mild HT.…”

“…Three studies were excluded because they contained other IL10 polymorphisms, data duplication, or did not contain genotype data. Ten studies met our inclusion criteria . Two of these studies contained data on two different groups .…”

“…The obtained results in our study for −1082 IL‐10 variant allele frequency (0.39) in healthy controls were similar to previously reported data for Bulgarian population and close to those reported in other Caucasian‐type cohorts in Turkey (0.38), Italy (0.34) and Spain (0.38), but lower than that found by Depboylu et al . (0.45) in a German population (Depboylu et al ., ; Castro‐Santos et al ., ; Scarpelli et al ., ; Miteva & Stanilova, ; Baki et al ., ).…”

“…The polymorphism at position −1082 in the promoter region of the IL‐10 gene has been studied by Baki and colleagues, who did not find notable risk for HT afflicted by IL‐10 −1082 polymorphism alone (Baki et al ., ). Authors reported no statistically significant difference in G allele frequency in patients with HT compared to controls.…”
