The Comfort Properties of Two Differential-Shrinkage Polyester Warp Knitted Fabrics

Abstract: Single-layered warp knitted fabrics were produced by the 60D/36F (containing 36 filaments) polyester yarn with differential shrinkage (DS) property in this study. Due to the differential shrinkage property, the fabric becomes curly and bulkier, simulating cotton fabric in terms of its appearance and fabric handle. The performance and appearance of these DS polyester warp knitted fabrics were evaluated objectively and subjectively. The testing results demonstrated that the DS polyester warp knitted fabric had b… Show more

“…Bamboo [10] fiber has the crystallite size similar to that of ramie, but larger than those of flax and cotton fibers. The researchers are finding particular natural cellulosic fibers to [11][12][13] complete with comfort properties [14,15]. These fiber blends have found potential in textile industries due to many properties, such as their comfort, warmness, coolness, touch feel, wear/end use [16] and anti-ultraviolet properties.…”

“…Abrasion resistance of warp knitted carpets were investigated for analysing the effect of pile yarn count, silicone resin and tuft density in Değirmenci's study (2016). Chen et al evaluated the comfort and abrasion properties of polyester warp knitted fabrics which reveal differential shrinkage (Chen et al, 2016). Lee (2006) investigated the changes of pulling-out length and shrinkage ratio in polyester/spandex power net warp knitted fabrics.…”
