The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Chrysanthemum boreale (Asteraceae)

Abstract: Chrysanthemum is an important ornamental, herbal, and medicinal plant. We report the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) sequence of Chrysanthemum boreale. The mitogenome is 211,002 bp in length, has a GC content of 45.36%, and contains 58 genes, including 35 protein-coding genes, three ribosomal RNA genes, and 20 transfer RNA genes. A phylogenetic analysis based on mitogenome protein sequences from various plants confirmed that C. boreale belongs to the Asteraceae family. This mitogenome will be useful… Show more

“…The lengths of the mitochondrial genomes of these Bidens species were similar to those of most land plants reported in the organelle database of NCBI (Supplementary Figure S9) and was similar to that of Tanacetum vulgare (Won et al, 2018). The total GC content of the mitochondrial genomes of the Bidens species was between 45.4 and 45.8% and were similar to that of Helianthus annuus (Grassa et al, 2016).…”

“…Organelles were assembled by extracting Nanopore and Illumina reads that aligned to the available C. boreale chloroplast (Won et al 2018b) and mitochondria (Won et al 2018c) references using Minimap2 v2.17 (Li 2018) and BWA-MEM v0.7.17-r1198-dirty (Li 2013) respectively. A hybrid assembly was then performed for each organelle using Unicycler v0.4.8 (Wick et al 2017).…”
