The surface and subsurface structure of unidirectionally abraded polyerystalline TIC1, CsC1, NH4C1 and IqH4Br has been studied by electron diffraction. For comparison with the abrasion results the rolling texture of T1C1 is investigated by X-ray diffraction. All the abraded materials developed a backwardly-tilted (110 ) orientation which was azimuthally strongly limited to an orientation with a (001 } cube edge direction normal to the abrasion direction. Additional arcs indicate more than ± 35 ° rotation range around the abrasion direction, away from this {110} (110} main orientation, which was concluded to be similar to the rolling texture.
