Abstract

On July 7th, 2021, Ayiti president Jovenel Moïse was assassinated in his private residence in Pétion-Ville, which many recognized as a planned orchestrated attack (Roberts, 2021). The assassination was also 2 years after the renowned 2019 political unrest and continuous calls for his resignation from the Ayisyen (Haitian) citizens who have been tired of the long legacy of corrupt rules from political elites who are the guard dogs of the United States, France, and other foreign powers. To fill the void after President Moïse's assassination, an ex-police officer named Jimmy "Babekyou" Chérizier would unite a coalition of gangs known as "G9" to lead an armed revolution against Ayiti's business and political elites.
