On the other hand, none of cognitive, metacognitive, compensation, global, problem-solving, and support reading strategies correlated positively with the reading performance of 199 Thai university EFL learners (Zhang & Sukying, 2022), 74 Indonesian secondary school students (Aini & Akhiriyah, 2022), 60 Saudi EFL university students (Meniado, 2016), 132 Indonesian EFL pre-service teachers (Sari, 2016), 53 Taiwanese learners (Shang, 2010), and 290 Chinese EFL university learners (Li & Kaur, 2014).
