“…Rb(4) Initially we supposed the chemical composition of this crystal to be Rb2W30~0, but the actual composition was found to be Rb22W32O107 (W/Rb = 1.455). Though the chemical composition of the present compound is slightly different from Rb2W3Oi0, it is interesting to compare the structure with that of K2W3OI0 (Okada et al, 1976) to examine the effect of alkaline-metal atoms on the structure of isopolytungstates. The structures of both isopolytungstates are based on frameworks of WO 6 octahedra.…”

“…The framework in Rb22W32O107 is built up of corner-shared W40~8 groups. On the other hand, that in K2W3Oto (Okada et al, 1976) is built up of parallel strings of WO 6 octahedra, which are combined laterally by sharing corners of the octahedra. All the K atoms are located in the flat tunnels existing in the framework.…”

“…It is desirable to understand the formation mechanism of such tungstates and to identify the conditions with which such materials preferably form, so one can achieve better controls of tungsten oxide nanostructure growth. As revealed in this work, the step growth of K 2 W 3 O 10 micro-wall is similar to that for nanostructured tungsten oxide [19][20][21], which may originate from the fact that the two materials both contain tungsten-oxygen WO 6 octahedra [22,23] with various three-dimensional frameworks or layered structures [13,24]. Understanding the growth behavior of such materials will thus benefit design and growth of other nanocrystalline structures of tungsten oxide compounds in the future.…”

“…Among these metal tungstates, potassium tungstates K 2 W n O 3n (n ¼ 2; 3; 4y) with various chemical compositions and structures have been identified and reported [12][13][14]. Potassium tungstate can be used as the precursor for preparing laser materials, which have attracted increasing attention in recent years [15].…”
