“…The erupted products from the largest eruption are mainly distributed in China and North Korea. In general, age of this eruption is considered to be 1000 years ago although it remains controversial [2,3,6,7,11,13] . Previous study [14] showed that variation in composition of Plinian fallout tephra may be thought to be a result of variation in composition of magma chamber.…”

“…These results confirmed that it is possible to analyze contents of volatiles (Cl, F, S) of melt inclusions in the phenocryst minerals and coexisting matrix glasses in Tianchi volcanic eruption products using the electron microprobe because their concentrations are higher than the detection limits. Previous studies have shown that the Tianchi volcano is a huge active one in China and has potential eruption danger [1][2][3] . However, lack of detailed field sampling has precluded further evaluation on environmental effect, hazard and monitoring of the Tianchi volcano.…”

“…In addition, the AD 460 estimated eruption by Varve-chronology for the Jinlongdingzi volcano in Longgang volcanic field of NE China was identified as the most recent explosive basaltic eruption (Liu et al, 2009). Both Tianchi and Jinlongdingzi volcanos located in the NE China, had a heavy impact on vegetation and climate in that area since the volcanoes erupted (Machida et al, 1990;Liu et al, 1998;Mingram et al, 2004;Guo et al, 2006;Stebich et al, 2007;Parplies et al, 2008;Jiang et al, 2008). Machida et al (1990) indicated the magnitude of volcanic impact on environments is exemplified by the extensive burial of forest under the pyroclastic flow, debris flow, and Plinian fall deposits.…”

“…Results from examining carbonized wood at about 800 m elevation in the northern slope and below 1000 m in the western slope suggested that the eruption time was 1050±70 A.D., 1120±70 A.D. and 1410±80 A.D., respectively [27]. The results from 14 C suggested that the eruption time was 1215 A.D. [28].…”
