The Decoration of ZnO Nanoparticles by Gamma Aminobutyric Acid, Curcumin Derivative and Silver Nanoparticles: Synthesis, Characterization and Antibacterial Evaluation

Abstract: Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) are applied in various applications in catalysis, biosensing, imaging, and as antibacterial agents. Here we to prepare ZnO nanomaterials decorated by γ-amino butyric acid (GABA), curcumin derivatives (CurBF2) and silver nanoparticles (CurBF2-AgNPs). The structures of all ZnO nanostructures were characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV–VIS spectrophotometry, fluorescence spectrophotometry, scanning electron microscopy (SE… Show more

“…The latter group used leaves extract of Azadarichta indica for the synthesis of ZnONPs. The obtained ZnONPs were hexagonal, spherical, and rod-like, which were highly agglomerated to form a large particle [46,47]. The results obtained were in agreement with Modi et al, 2022, by using Allium cepa peel [38].…”

“…The latter group used leaves extract of Azadarichta indica for the synthesis of ZnONPs. The obtained ZnONPs were hexagonal, spherical, and rod-like, which were highly agglomerated to form a large particle [46,47] While Figure 5c depicts the TEM image of synthesized ZnONPs at a 200 nm scale, which shows that there are two types of particles, i.e., one is spherical shaped whose size is below 200 nm (40-100 nm), while a few are more than 200 nm and are rod-shaped. The smaller and spherical particles are more dominant than the large irregular rod-shaped particles.…”

“…All the particles are spherical and smaller in size, but they have aggregated to form a large structure of size above 100 nm, while some of the nanoparticles got fused due to calcination at high temperature. Aggregated spherical structures of synthesized ZnONPs were also reported by Talodthaisong et al, where the synthesized ZnONPs were decorated with Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid, derivatives of curcumin and AgNPs [ 30 ].…”

“…The indexing of the SAED and the FFT (inset in Figure 4 d) patterns reveal that the nanoparticles are composed mainly of the hexagonal wurtzite phase of ZnO. The results obtained for the ZnO NPs samples synthesized with the other extracts were similar [ 29 ].…”
