“…195). Blair and Norris (1988) commented that H. copiosa was the most common Halimeda species in the deep-water algal community at San Salvador, where they indicated a maximum depth of 152 m. Decne. Specimens: DLB4189, 36 m;DLB7145, 50 m;DLB4679, 55-60 m;DLB8051, 70 m. Blair and Norris (1988) and Littler and Littler (2000) reported maximum depths of 73 and 80 m, respectively, for the species in the tropical western Atlantic.…”

“…The deepest known depth for the H. goreaui is 80 m (Suárez et al, 2015); however, the depth is reported without citation or location. In Puerto Rico, Halimeda gracilis is rarely collected at depths shallower than 17 m. reported the species to a depth of 75 m in Brazil, and Blair and Norris (1988) collected the species to 122 m in the Bahamas. The deepest known reported record for Halimeda gracilis is that by Agegian and Abbott (1985), who reported the species to 125 m from Hawaii and Johnson Atoll.…”

“…In the Bahamas the distribution of seven species of the calcified green algal genus Halimeda was surveyed along vertical transects at depths of 25-255 m using a submersible (Blair and Norris 1988). Three species were found at depths of 120-150 m and the remaining taxa at various depths between 37 and 107 m depth.…”

“…Halimeda cryptica, the best-studied species, forms large populations that, together with H. copiosa, drape the rocky slopes between 30 and 50 m deep along the north coast of Jamaica (Colinvaux & Graham 1964;Littler & Littler 2000). It has been reported to occur down to 152 m in the Bahamas, which is the current depth record for the genus (Littler et al 1986;Blair & Norris 1988). The type specimens of H. pygmaea and H. pumila were collected from fore reef slope habitats at approximately 50 m depth in Fiji and 40 m depth in the Bahamas, respectively.…”
