“…Krebs et al (1996) (Steller et al, 2006). Pusz et al (2010) also showed that better ordered pyrolytic carbon structures were found in deposits close to the coke oven walls. That was in accordance to increasing order of coke optical texture along the cross-section of coking chamber from the center to the walls.…”

“…In a beehive-type coke oven, high amounts of pyrolytic carbon were detected, but, in contrast to slot-type coke oven, its structure was isotropic. Mechanism of formation of pyrolytic carbon deposits inside the mass of coke described by Steller et al (2006) and their microscopic structure determined as medium-or high-texture (Pusz et al, 2010) indicate that the deposition is from gaseous phases only, unlike the carbon deposits on the roofs and the walls of coke oven. The study of Shigeno and Evans (1999) revealed that the formation of deposits of pyrolytic carbon in coke matrix improves coke quality with respect to CRI and CSR indices.…”

“…The results of these studies showed a variable concentration of carbon entities as well as differences in packing density and porosity. They also presented differences between carbon deposit textures depending on various places of occurrence in the coking chamber (Barranco et al, 2007(Barranco et al, , 2008Krebs et al, 1994Krebs et al, , 1996Nakagawa et al, 1998Nakagawa et al, , 2006Pusz et al, 2010;Steller et al, 2006;Zymla and Honnart, 2007).…”
