Recently, evidence has been presented showing that material, including some bacterial species, accumulates preferen tially at these interfaces (Leech et al 1979), particularly when the contact angle of the meniscus is less than 90 0 . Small hydrophobic particles, such as bacteria, with densities similar to that of the liquid in which they are suspended, will tend to collect at liquidair interfaces.…”
