The world has been going through the global crisis of the coronavirus (COVID-19). It is a challenging situation for every country to tackle its healthcare system. COVID-19 spreads through physical contact with COVID-positive patients and causes potential damage to the country’s health and economy system. Therefore, to overcome the chance of spreading the disease, the only preventive measure is to maintain social distancing. In this vulnerable situation, virtual resources have been utilized in order to maintain social distance, i.e., the telehealth system has been proposed and developed to access healthcare services remotely and manage people’s health conditions. The telehealth system could become a regular part of our healthcare system, and during any calamity or natural disaster, it could be used as an emergency response to deal with the catastrophe. For this purpose, we proposed a conceptual telehealth framework in response to COVID-19. We focused on identifying critical issues concerning the use of telehealth in healthcare setups. Furthermore, the factors influencing the implementation of the telehealth system have been explored in detail. The proposed telehealth system utilizes artificial intelligence and data science to regulate and maintain the system efficiently. Before implementing the telehealth system, it is required that prearrangements be made, such as appropriate funding measures, the skills to know technological usage, training sessions, and staff endorsement. The barriers and influencing factors provided in this article can be helpful for future developments in telehealth systems and for making fruitful progress in fighting pandemics like COVID-19. At the same time, the same approach can be used to save the lives of many frontline workers.

Purpose To gain an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of Chinese organ transplant recipients’ perceptions, expectations, and suggestions of pharmacy services to hospital pharmacists. Methods This qualitative study was conducted in central China, from February to December 2020. Participants were collected with a purposive and snowball sampling method. Focus group discussions were conducted with organ transplant recipients and content analysis was applied to identify themes and subthemes. Results 21 recipients participated in the qualitative study. Four themes and thirteen subthemes were identified: (1) perceptions of clinical pharmacists and pharmacy services; (2) expectations for pharmacy service content; (3) expectations for pharmacy service form; and (4) difficulties as a special group. Conclusion The pharmacy services provided by Chinese healthcare institutions are inadequate to meet the needs of organ transplant recipients. However, the acceptance and expectation of pharmacy services by transplant recipients are high. Therefore, China should learn from the experience of developed countries and focus on the actual needs of patients to establish a better pharmacy service system for organ transplantation.

Pain is a significant health issue, and pain assessment is essential for proper diagnosis, follow-up, and effective management of pain. The conventional methods of pain assessment often suffer from subjectivity and variability. The main issue is to understand better how people experience pain. In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has been playing a growing role in improving clinical diagnosis and decision-making. The application of AI offers promising opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of pain assessment. This review article provides an overview of the current state of AI in pain assessment and explores its potential for improving accuracy, efficiency, and personalized care. By examining the existing literature, research gaps, and future directions, this article aims to guide further advancements in the field of pain management. An online database search was conducted via multiple websites to identify the relevant articles. The inclusion criteria were English articles published between January 2014 and January 2024). Articles that were available as full text clinical trials, observational studies, review articles, systemic reviews, and meta-analyses were included in this review. The exclusion criteria were articles that were not in the English language, not available as free full text, those involving pediatric patients, case reports, and editorials. A total of (47) articles were included in this review. In conclusion, the application of AI in pain management could present promising solutions for pain assessment. AI can potentially increase the accuracy, precision, and efficiency of objective pain assessment.
